Scorched battlefields, volcanic wastelands, dark fantasy forests and gothic ruins need vegetation that looks dead, charred or simply alien. 🔬 What You Get
One sheet containing approximately 500 individual micro tufts at 1mm height in deep black tones. Each tuft peels off with its own adhesive layer, ready to place directly onto any prepared surface. 💡 Pro Tips from the Community
🔧 Reinforce with CA glue. The self-adhesive backing works for display, but for gaming pieces a drop of superglue ensures permanence.
🎨 Contrast is everything. Black tufts pop strongest against light surfaces — sandy ground, pale stone, bleached bone terrain. On already-dark bases they can disappear, so choose placement carefully.
🔥 Scorched earth effect. Scatter these across a base painted in ashy greys and warm browns, mixed with standard dry tufts, to create a convincing burnt-ground battlefield. Add a few near the edges of craters or around destroyed vehicles.
🔨 Tweezers essential. At 1mm these are extremely small. Fine-tipped tweezers make placement accurate.
⚠️ Worth Knowing
This is a specialist product. Black 1mm tufts are not general-purpose basing material. They serve a specific visual role — dark lichen, charred ground, gothic or fantasy mood. For standard green basing, choose a different colour in the range.
Can disappear on dark surfaces. If your base is already painted in dark tones, black tufts may not read well. They need some contrast to be visible — light earth, pale stone, or sandy textures make them stand out.
Best as part of a mix. These are a mood-setting accent, not a stand-alone basing solution. Combine with standard tufts, weathering pigments and other scenic materials for the most convincing results.
