The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American armored transporter in 1:35 scale.

History of armored personnel carrier M113 goes back to the 50s, when work began on a new vehicle for the US Army. Series production began in 1960, and the debut of the M113 took place in Vietnam. The vehicle was characterized by good armor against small weapons and light weight thanks to its aluminum construction. Even during the conflict, there were first changes made that concerned the replacement of the engine to diesel and strengthening the armor. Another change was in 1979 when vehicles were upgraded to the A2 variant. Based on the experience of combat, it was decided to replace the gearbox, suspension, cooling system and moving the fuel tanks on the rear of the vehicle. Modified this way, vehicles took part in the Gulf War in 1991 and in Iraq in 2003. Although most of the combat missions was taken over by more modern IFVs like M2 Bradley, M113 are still basic vehicles of American mechanized troops. After more than 50 years after its entry into service, M113 transporters continues to serve on active duty in the U.S. Army, and is the basis of many different variants of vehicles constructed, from self-propelled mortars and command vehicles to the ambulances. This vehicle is operated by more than 50 different countries around the world, which allows us to assume that they will remain in readiness for many years to come.

Tamiya kit allows assembly of the American M113A2 armored personnel carrier model, along with two members of the crew (commander and driver). The model can be glued in the basic or the desert version. Box includes a part of the hull, 4 sprues with parts, rubber tracks and decals (allow for the reconstruction of vehicles from the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division and the 1st Armoured Division).

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
