Metal Color is an innovative range of metallic colors formulated with water-based aluminium pigments. This collection offers a variety of shades designed to replicate the metallic finish of aircraft from all types and eras. Known for its exceptional brightness and extraordinary reflection, Metal Color allows modelers to utilize various painting techniques without relying on enamels or lacquers.

Key Features:

Versatile Application: Can be applied directly to the model using an airbrush or diluted with our Airbrush Thinner or Flow Improver. Also suitable for brush application.
Quick Drying: Dries rapidly while preserving the smallest details, forming a homogeneous and self-leveling layer with remarkable resistance a few hours after application.
Tinting Options: Colors from the Model Air or Game Air ranges can be mixed directly in the airbrush cup.
Recommended Settings: Ideal compressor settings are around 15-20 Psi or 0.5-1 kg.

Application Tips:

For airframes and aircraft model components, apply Gloss Black Primer (available in 60 ml / 2.02 fl oz bottles, ref. 73.660, and 200 ml / 6.76 fl oz bottles, ref. 74.660) to enhance the aluminium shades.
Although Metal Color dries quickly, wait 12 hours before applying any paint masks.
Use Gloss Metal Varnish (available in 60 ml / 2.02 fl oz bottles, ref. 26.657) for additional gloss and protection.
Maintain your airbrush with Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner for optimal performance.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
