Here is the Light Armoured Vehicle of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force in its home-service form, modelled by Tamiya in 1/35. The LAV reached units in 2002: a small, steel-armoured four-wheeler with a 160 hp diesel engine and a top speed of 100 km/h, used mainly by infantry and armoured reconnaissance units. It served in Iraq from 2004, and from 2005 vehicles in Japan gained rear brackets for fuel cans and the spare tyre. The model captures its upright mirrors, framed side windows, antennae and rear brackets. The chassis is die-cast, the tyres are hollow rubber, and a seated driver figure is included. It is 128 mm long.
