Standard grass tufts are 4-6mm tall. These are 1mm. That difference changes what they represent entirely. ๐ก Pro Tips from the Community
๐ง Add CA glue underneath. The self-adhesive backing works for display pieces, but for gaming models that get handled, a drop of superglue under each tuft gives a much more permanent bond.
๐จ Layer with other tufts. Tiny Golden tufts work brilliantly alongside standard 4-6mm tufts. Place the taller tufts first, then scatter tiny tufts around them to create a realistic multi-layer vegetation effect.
๐งด Use on vertical surfaces. At 1mm, these can sit convincingly on rock faces, wall sides and tree bark where taller tufts would fall off or look wrong. Great for lichen and weathering effects.
๐จ Tweezers are essential. These are very small. A pair of fine-tipped tweezers makes placement accurate and saves a lot of frustration.

These are not grass tufts in the traditional sense. At 1mm, you will not see individual blades of grass. They read as lichen, moss, micro-growth and low-profile surface texture. If you want visible grass clumps, look at the standard 4mm+ ranges.
Very subtle effect. On a busy, heavily-detailed base these can almost disappear. They work best on relatively clean surfaces where their colour and texture have room to be noticed โ rocks, bare ground, flat terrain.
Tweezers required. These tufts are tiny. Placing them by hand is impractical โ fine-tipped tweezers are a must.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?
That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4โ6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28โ32mm miniature bases.
Are tufts self-adhesive?
Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside โ press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.
How do I apply static grass?
Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
