Product overview

The MT-C is the Advanced Kit of DSPIAE's stepless circular cutter. A square red body holds a ring turning on a 440 stainless steel ball bearing, and the cutting bit rides on an arm you slide along a radius scale. Set any diameter from 1–45 mm, turn the ring, and the bit cuts a clean disc from masking tape or plastic sheet under 0.4 mm thick: round masks for two-colour spraying, or small circular details. It is a different tool from DSPIAE's PT-C Integral Circular Cutter.

  • 30°, 45° and 60° tungsten carbide bits, three Allen keys, silicone anti-slip pad
  • ABS storage case with magnetic lock
  • Forged aluminium alloy body, 95 × 95 × 26 mm, 315 g
  • Never use it on metal sheet
  • DSPIAE's MT-CL locator fits only this kit and is sold separately
  • Not for children under 14

Notes · Q & A

What can a circle cutter cut?

Clean discs from masking tape, decal film and thin plastic sheet, within the thickness the maker gives. That makes it ideal for round masks on wheels, lenses, dials and markings. It is not meant for metal or thick plastic.

How do I get a clean circle in thin plastic?

Set the radius, make two or three light turns to score the surface, then flex the sheet so the disc snaps out. Forcing a full-depth cut in one turn tends to tear the edge or drag the centre point.

How do I use cut discs as paint masks?

Spray the first colour and let it dry fully, then lay discs cut from masking tape where that colour must stay. Spray the second colour and lift the masks with tweezers once it is touch-dry, for crisp round edges.

How do I keep the cutting bit sharp?

Cut on a self-healing mat, never on glass or metal, and keep the bit covered or in its case between jobs. A chipped tip leaves a ragged edge and is best replaced rather than reground.
