Product overview

AK453 True Metal Old Bronze is a 20 ml coloured wax formulated as metallic modelling paint. Apply it over a primed surface, let the wax base dry fully for 48 hours, then polish the layer to reveal the metallic finish. The fully dried colour can also be covered with an acrylic varnish.

  • Brush, fingertip and cotton swab application are supported.
  • Airbrushing requires dilution with white spirit.
  • The formulation is made with high-quality pigments.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
