Abteilung 502 Faded White is an artist oil for faded white effects, illuminated grey areas and controlled colour lightening. AK Interactive recommends it for figures and vehicles, winter scenes, Panzer Grey finishes, warships and modern military aircraft. Because the shade remains below pure white in the highlight sequence, it leaves room for a final maximum-light accent. It can also be mixed into other colours to increase brightness without immediately shifting them to a stark pure white.
20 ml tube, single artist oil colour (AK code AKABT165; former code ABT165)
AK use: faded whites and illuminated greys on winter, Panzer Grey, naval and aircraft subjects
Sits below pure white, leaving room for a final maximum-light highlight
Reduced-oil ABT 502 formula for a more matte finish

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
