Abteilung 502 Basic Flesh Tone is an artist oil paint for figure and miniature painting, part of AK Interactive's ABT 502 oils. As a mid skin base it is made to suit most skin types and to be mixed with the other flesh tones in the range to build lighter or darker shades. Being an oil, it stays workable far longer than acrylic, so you can blend wet-on-wet and pull soft, luminous transitions across a face or muscle without hard edges. Abteilung's formula uses less oil than typical artist oils, which gives a more matte finish suited to scale figures. It thins and cleans with white spirit or an odourless oil thinner. Supplied in a 20 ml tube.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
