Product overview

Burnt-out vehicles are a subject of their own, and this five-piece weathering set from AK Interactive's AFV series is built around them. Four 35 ml pigments — Black, White Ashes, Burnt Umber and Burnt Rust Red — reproduce the ashes, black stains and other effects seen on fire-damaged vehicles, in AK's own words, and the fifth jar is AK's well-received Pigment Fixer, the enamel fixer that sets the work permanently. The box adds that the pigments are specially formulated and tested to create burnt vehicles. Every one of the five jars is stocked by us separately.

Set contains: AK039 Black (Pigment), AK142 White Ashes (Pigment), AK143 Burnt Umber (Pigment), AK144 Burnt Rust Red (Pigment) and AK048 Pigment Fixer (Enamel)

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
