Product overview

AK1230 is the 100 ml Wargame Terrain paste whose tone and appearance represent wet ground. AK additionally allows puddles to be added where the modeller wants to strengthen the wet effect, giving the scene both damp-looking ground and localised standing water. The textured paste supplies physical relief over the base for diorama, science-fiction and wargame settings.

  • A stiff-bristle brush is specified for spreading paste taken directly from the jar
  • Adding some water decreases the built relief and makes the consistency softer
  • Natural details can be embedded before the paste dries; white glue supports larger additions

Notes · Q & A

What are AK Wargame Terrains used for?

AK Wargame Terrains are coloured texture pastes for building ground on miniature bases, wargame scenery and dioramas. Applied over the chosen base material, they provide both colour and physical relief; AK's guide uses foam as one example.

How do I apply the paste, and can it be thinned?

Apply it straight from the jar with a stiff-bristle brush, spreading the paste across the prepared base. Adding a little water reduces its volume and gives the texture a softer consistency; AK names no other thinner for this range.

Can I paint over the terrain after it dries?

Once the paste has dried, AK allows other painting media to be used over it. Filter glazes and washes are named examples, and the finished surface can also support attached scenic elements.

How do I add stones, grass or vegetation?

Press natural elements into the paste while it remains fresh, using water to blend them into the surrounding terrain. Smaller pieces are held as the paste dries, while AK specifies white glue for larger additions.

Can the colours be mixed, and how much will I need?

AK states that colours from the range can be combined to create new tonal variations. Choose the starting colour for the ground being modelled, then mix shades where required. Each jar contains 100 ml, but AK publishes no coverage figure, drying time or composition for this range.
