AK Interactive Basic Starter Set – 14 Colors selected by Josedavinci is the beginner box, and it is built on the colour wheel rather than on any one subject: primary, secondary and tertiary colours chosen so a newcomer learns to mix instead of buying a paint for every job — AK's own phrase is losing the fear of mixtures. Experienced painters who like mixing their own tones get the same spread. The box also includes printed colour-theory cards, which is what makes it a starter set rather than simply fourteen paints.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
