Product overview
Four matt acrylics essential for painting models of US Army helicopters used from the 1960s onwards. Each colour carries its own date in AK's text: FS 34087, employed during the Vietnam War and after; FS 34031, introduced as the new overall colour in 1985; FS 30277, temporarily applied during the Gulf War; and FS 34201, adopted for the CH-47F Chinook in 2009. Together they cover the Army's AH-1 Cobra, AH-64 Apache, OH-6 Kiowa, UH-1 Huey and UH-60 Blackhawk.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
