Product overview
Six matt acrylics covering the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm's fixed wing aircraft from 1945 until 2006. AK's scheme sequence runs through the service's post-war colours: Extra Dark Sea Grey/Sky came first, with White replacing Sky as the underside colour in the second half of the 1950s. The Buccaneer fleet switched to Extra Dark Sea Grey overall in the late 1960s. Sea Harriers bound for the Falklands War in 1982 were repainted en route into Medium Sea Grey / Camouflage (Barley) Grey, the Barley Grey applied only to the undersides of the wings and horizontal tail; after the war the fleet went Dark Sea Grey overall, replaced by Medium Sea Grey in the mid-1990s.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
