Vallejo Escoda Ultimate Miniature Set 72206 Game Color Paint & Kolinsky Brush Set
Vallejo Escoda Ultimate Miniature Set 72206 — Game Color Paints & Kolinsky Sable Brushes (SKU: VAL72206)
A Vallejo × Escoda licensed set · 6 Game Color paints + 5 handmade Escoda brushes, three of them genuine Kolinsky sable
Why this set
✓ Three real Escoda Reserva Kolinsky sable brushes — the kind painters normally buy one at a time at a premium.
✓ A complete mixable palette — three primaries, white, black and a sepia wash, so you can mix the base shade you need rather than buying ten pots.
✓ A brush for every job — fine detail, basecoating and blending/filbert work all covered.
✓ Ready from the first miniature for newcomers, and a worthwhile brush upgrade for experienced painters.
✓ Genuinely good value — the synthetics take the heavier jobs so the sable stays sharp for the detail that matters.
About the set
Vallejo and Escoda put this kit together as a single starting point for miniature painting: Vallejo’s Game Color paints, long trusted on fantasy and sci-fi figures for their pigmentation and smooth matt finish, paired with brushes handmade by Escoda in Spain.
The three Reserva brushes use Kolinsky-Tajmyr sable — male sable hair from the Tajmyr region of northern Siberia — cured to a snappy, resilient core that points cleanly and holds a good load of paint. Each carries a triple-crimped, nickel-plated brass ferrule on a short burgundy lacquered handle shaped for control. Alongside them sit two synthetics: a Prado round for general work and a Barroco filbert for blending and drybrushing.
It’s a combination that earns its place on the bench — the synthetics handle the abrasive, heavy-bodied work, keeping your sable in good order for fine detail.

Who it’s for
Fantasy, sci-fi and tabletop miniature painters. Game Color is formulated for figure work, but the paints take to resin, plastic and metal alike. A sound first kit for someone starting out, and a brush-roll upgrade for painters who already know their way around a palette.
Getting the most from it
◆ Use the 2/0 and 0 Reserva for eyes, edge highlights and the finest detail; the size 1 for general detail and layering.
◆ Save the sable for fine work — basecoat larger areas with the Prado synthetic, which handles heavier paint and rough surfaces without wearing your Kolinsky.
◆ The Barroco filbert is your blending, drybrushing and transition-softening brush.
◆ Run the Sepia Wash into recesses to add instant depth over the base colours.
◆ Clean gently, reshape the point and dry flat — treated well, Kolinsky sable keeps its point for years.
