Vallejo Pigment FX Dust & Dirt Set contains four 35 ml pots of dry, unbound pigment for accumulated dust and dirt on models and dioramas. Vallejo describes the range as originating from iron oxides and natural earths. The pigments can be rubbed onto a surface dry with a brush, placed first and fixed with a few drops of Airbrush Thinner, or mixed with the thinner to create mixtures of varying density. For volume, accumulations and changes of shade, Vallejo also describes mixing them with Pigment Binder.
Set contains: 73.103 Dark Yellow Ochre; 73.110 Burnt Umber; 73.115 Natural Iron Oxide; 73.121 Desert Dust
Each pigment comes in a 35 ml pot with a childproof top; Vallejo states that fill weight varies by pigment
A step-by-step guide by Chema Cabrero is included for creating dust and dirt effects
Airbrush Thinner and Pigment Binder are application aids recommended by Vallejo; neither is included in the set
73.121 Desert Dust is also included in the Stone & Cement Pigment Set

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
