Product overview

Winter 5 mm Small tufts use a very pale mixture that keeps touches of dark greens and browns. They stand for frozen plant cover in very cold habitats, including thin tundra grasslands and scenery shaped by seasonal winter conditions. Winter is stocked at two heights: this 5 mm sheet is the shorter, while a separately listed 12 mm Winter XL sheet carries the same colour at around 36 larger pieces, in Wild XL only. On this shorter sheet the Small format is the higher-count option.

  • You receive around 144 tufts in Small format, equal to the greatest approximate count shown on any sheet we list.
  • The corresponding 5 mm Wild sheet contains around 70 tufts.
  • Each tuft comes away as an individual piece and needs no preparation before use.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
