Product overview

The Swallowtail SD is the side-feed version of Gaahleri's Ace Series trigger airbrush, and it can be run two ways. With the 2/3 oz gravity side cup the paint sits off to one side, so your view of the tip stays clear for fine lines and intricate patterns; with the 1 oz metal-capped siphon cup you get a larger reservoir for long sessions and quick colour changes. The side attachment adjusts to several angles. Both calibres are supplied: 0.28mm with a round cap for detail, and 0.5mm with a fan cap for wide coverage.

0.28mm and 0.5mm needles and nozzles
0.5mm fan cap for broad, even spraying
8-MAC nozzle system and polished Ace Series needle
Handle with an extended tail for little-finger support

Notes · Q & A

What nozzle size do I need for miniatures?

0.3mm is the versatile all-rounder for base coats and priming; 0.2mm suits fine detail work. Larger nozzles (0.5mm) are for terrain and big surfaces.

Do I need a compressor with a tank?

A tank smooths the airflow and reduces pulsing, giving more consistent results — worth it if you spray regularly, but tankless compressors work fine for occasional use.

How do I keep an airbrush working well?

Flush with airbrush cleaner between colours and strip-clean after each session. Most spraying problems are cleaning problems.
