Product overview

A narrow strip of wet-and-dry bends around the work when there is no rigid support behind it. The Knight Black DSPIAE AS-BK15 provides that support with two 5 mm boards for restricted access and two 10 mm boards for small flat areas; none is 15 mm wide. Every backing is 2 mm thick, and suitable self-adhesive paper must be sourced separately.

  • For either narrow board, align an SP-series sheet to three edges and cut away the surplus.
  • Stickers spanning 180# to 2500# identify the abrasive currently mounted on each board.
  • The boards are machined integrally from aluminium alloy stock before surface finishing.
  • Sandblasting and anodising reduce glue residue after a spent strip is lifted.
  • Waterproof and corrosion-resistant surfaces support wet-sanding work.

What's the difference between a needle file and a sanding stick?

Needle files are steel, cut faster and hold their shape for tight spots and metal. Sanding sticks are foam or paper-backed abrasive, kinder to plastic and better for smoothing broad, flat surfaces without gouging.

Which grit should I start with on mould lines?

For plastic, start around 400 grit to knock the line back, then refine with 600–800. Coarser than 400 leaves scratches you then have to chase out, so only go lower for resin flash or heavy work.

Should I file wet or dry?

Wet sanding with a drop of water reduces dust and clogging and gives a finer finish, which matters on resin where the dust is best not inhaled. Dry filing is fine for quick metal work and steel needle files.

How do I stop a file clogging with plastic or resin?

Brush it out with a stiff brass brush along the cut direction. For sanding sticks, tap them clean often. Clogged abrasive stops cutting and starts burnishing, which just polishes the high spots rather than removing them.
