A six-bottle 3rd Generation acrylic set from AK Interactive's Figure Series for the black German Panzer crew uniforms worn by the Wehrmacht (Heer) and Waffen-SS — AK's own description. The structure is printed on the panel: a column headed UNIFORM running shadow, base, light and highlight through four black-uniform tones, with the swatch strip bracketing exactly those four. Two colours sit outside the ladder for the details — Silver Grey is called out on the field cap's eagle and braid, and Old Rose on the collar piping, which AK's panel explains was worn in Waffenfarbe, usually the rose-pink of the armoured branch, officially until 1942. AK says the colours can be mixed for varied shades.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
