AK Interactive Verdigris Effect Kit
Realistic Oxi
dation For Models | AK11265
Create Authentic Patina Effects
This specialized kit allows you to recreate stunning verdigris effects and textures on your models and miniatures. Perfect for adding that authentic aged look to copper, bronze, and brass elements in your projects.
Suitable for all types of modeling and craft applications, from military models to dioramas, steampunk creations, and architectural miniatures.
What's Included in the Kit
🎨 Special Acrylic Paint
AK11267 - Specially formulated base paint that reacts with the oxidizing agent to create realistic verdigris effects. This paint provides the foundation for the chemical reaction.
⚗️ Oxidizing Agent
AK11268 - The catalyst that creates the natural oxidation effect through chemical reaction. Can be diluted with water to achieve more subtle gradations of patina on your pieces.
Simple Application Process
1
Base Application: Apply the special acrylic paint (AK11267) with a brush on the piece where the verdigris effect is desired. Cover all areas that should show the patina effect.
2
Drying Time: Allow the base paint to dry completely before proceeding to the next step. This ensures proper chemical reaction.
3
Oxidation: Apply the Oxidizing Agent (AK11268) over the dried paint. You can use a brush or sponge depending on the effect desired.
4
Reaction Time: Let it sit and watch as the oxidation occurs naturally due to the reaction with air. The effect develops over time, reaching its final appearance after approximately 15-30 minutes.
* Pro Tip: The oxidizing agent can be diluted with water to achieve more subtle results on your pieces, allowing for greater control over the intensity of the effect.
💡 Expert Techniques
Layered Effects: For more realistic results, apply the effect in multiple thin layers rather than one thick application.
Selective Application: Use a fine brush to apply the oxidizing agent only to specific areas for a more controlled, realistic weathering.
Enhancing the Effect: You can enhance and customize the verdigris effect with other modeling products such as pigments, acrylic paints, or enamel effects.
Creating Variations: Use a sponge to dab the oxidizing agent for an uneven, more natural-looking finish.

Understanding Verdigris
Verdigris is the bluish-green patina that forms naturally on copper, bronze, and brass when exposed to air or seawater over time. This effect has been observed throughout history on everything from ancient artifacts to the Statue of Liberty.
The AK Interactive Verdigris Effect Kit replicates this natural oxidation process in a controlled, accelerated manner, allowing modelers to achieve in minutes what would take years in nature.

Notes · Q & A
What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?+
That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.
Are tufts self-adhesive?+
Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.
How do I apply static grass?+
Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
