About This Product

Aves Apoxie Sculpt is a two-part epoxy compound made by Aves Studio in the USA. Mix equal parts of Part A and Part B together, and you get a smooth, clay-like putty that you can sculpt, shape, texture, and tool for 1–3 hours before it begins to set. After 24 hours it cures into a rock-hard, permanent material with a semi-gloss finish.

It works like modelling clay but bonds like an epoxy — meaning it sticks permanently to most surfaces without needing primer or separate adhesive. Once cured, it can be sanded, drilled, carved, tapped, filed, and painted just like any rigid material.

This is the 454 g (1 lb) tub set in Brown. Each set contains one 227 g (8 oz) tub of Part A and one 227 g (8 oz) tub of Part B. Brown is a natural earth tone that works as an excellent general-purpose sculpting colour — easy on the eyes during long sessions and practical for terrain, woodwork, and organic sculpts. A little goes a long way — hobbyists regularly report that 454 g lasts through dozens of projects.

Why Choose Brown?

Natural earth and wood tones — perfect for sculpting tree trunks, wooden structures, fences, barrels, crates, and organic terrain features that look right straight out of the tub.

Mud, soil, and ground textures — the brown tone is ideal for basing work, trench terrain, forest floors, and any scenic element where an earth-coloured base saves painting steps.

Comfortable working colour — mid-tone brown shows sculpted detail clearly without the harshness of black or the glare of white, making it easier on the eyes during longer sculpting sessions.

Colour mixing — mix Brown Part A with any other Apoxie Sculpt Part A colour to create custom shades — leather, bark, rust, clay, and more — then add equal Part B to activate.

Repairs and restoration — Brown blends naturally into wooden furniture, frames, and objects, making it a practical choice for household and workshop repairs as well as hobby use.

Why Hobbyists Love Apoxie Sculpt

How to Use — Quick Guide

1

Mix — take equal amounts of Part A and Part B. Knead together thoroughly until the colour is completely uniform with no streaks.

2

Sculpt — shape, texture, and detail your piece. You have 1–3 hours of working time. The 1-hour mark is often the sweet spot for fine detail.

3

Smooth — use water on your fingers or tools to smooth surfaces before cure. Cold water helps reduce sticking.

4

Cure — leave for 24 hours at room temperature. No oven, no UV, no heat needed.

5

Finish — once cured, sand, drill, carve, or paint as needed. Accepts all hobby paints and primers.

Tips from the Hobby Community

Use cold water to reduce sticking and help hold fine detail while sculpting.

Wear nitrile gloves — epoxy compounds are best handled with gloves. Coloured variants can leave pigment on skin and surfaces.

Wait for the 1-hour mark if you want to add fine details — the material firms up slightly and holds sharper impressions.

Mix only what you need — once combined, Parts A and B will cure whether you use them or not. Portion sensibly.

Clean tools with soap and water before the compound sets. Aves Finishing Solution handles stubborn residue.

Store sealed and cool — old stock can develop a surface film. Keep lids tight for maximum shelf life.

How Does It Compare?

vs. Green Stuff (Kneadatite)

Apoxie Sculpt gives a much longer working time (1–3 hours vs. ~30 min), smooths more easily with water, and cures rock-hard. Green Stuff stays slightly flexible — better for armour straps, cloaks, organic shapes. Rigid and sandable? Apoxie. Elastic and tough? Green Stuff.

vs. Milliput

Both cure hard and can be sanded. Milliput has a shorter working time and grittier texture. Apoxie Sculpt feels smoother and blends more easily. Milliput is cheaper per gram. Ultra-smooth sculpting? Apoxie. Quick affordable filling? Milliput.

vs. Polymer Clay (Sculpey, FIMO)

Polymer clay needs an oven and doesn't bond to other materials. Apoxie Sculpt cures at room temperature, bonds permanently, and is far more durable. For anything that needs to stick, Apoxie is the better choice.

Good to Know

It cures rigid. If you need a flexible end result (cloaks, straps, thin parts that flex), Green Stuff or a flexible putty is a better choice.

The working time is a strength — and a commitment. Once mixed, Parts A and B will set in 24 hours whether you've finished or not.

Wear gloves. Non-toxic when cured and non-flammable, but skin contact during mixing should be avoided.

Texture changes during cure. Feels different at 10, 30, and 60 minutes. Normal — many sculptors prefer the firmer stage.
