UV Resin 17ml – Transparent Water Effect
💧 UV Resin Water Effect
Crystal Clear | 17ml | Green Stuff World
Crystal-clear UV-curing resin that creates realistic water effects. Cures hard in minutes under UV light or sunlight, stays perfectly transparent, and builds up in layers without visible seams. Perfect for rivers, lakes, puddles, ocean bases — any water effect you need.
🌊 Why It Looks Like Real Water
This resin doesn't just look clear — it has the right optical properties to mimic water. Light passes through like real water, creating natural depth and refraction. Layer it to build actual depth, tint it for murky water or tropical seas, texture the surface for waves. The clarity is the key — you can see right through to whatever's "underwater."
🌊 Ocean Bases
Deep blue depths, crashing waves, foam
🏞️ Rivers & Streams
Flowing water, rapids, waterfalls
🌧️ Puddles & Rain
Street reflections, muddy water, storm effects
🐠 Aquatic Dioramas
Fish tanks, swamps, underwater scenes
✨ What Makes It Work
Fast UV curing — 2–4 minutes with UV lamp, 5–10 minutes in direct sunlight. Stays workable until exposed to light
Layer without seams — build depth gradually. Each layer bonds perfectly to the last with no visible lines
Zero shrinkage — cures at the exact volume you pour. No warping, no pulling away from edges
Tintable & clear — use clear for pristine water, add alcohol inks for colour. Blue for ocean, green for murky, brown for muddy
Workable when cured — cut, sand, polish, carve. Shape waves and texture after it's hard
🎨 Water Effect Techniques
|
🌊 Deep Water Pour in thin layers, letting each cure. Build depth gradually — 3–5 layers creates realistic depth with light penetration |
|
💦 Waves & Ripples Texture the surface before final cure using tools or air, or sculpt waves after curing with heat gun and carving |
|
🎨 Coloured Water Add alcohol inks or transparent dyes before curing. Start light — you can always add more layers for deeper colour |
|
🐟 Embedding Objects Pour base layer, cure, place objects (fish, rocks, vegetation), pour over and cure again. Creates true depth and immersion |
|
✨ Surface Effects Add white acrylic for foam, gloss varnish for shine, or texture paste for rapids. Layer effects on top of cured resin |
|
💧 Splashes & Drops Use thin strands while partly cured, or apply drops with toothpick then cure. Creates dynamic action effects |
💡 Pro Tips
🔦 Curing Strategy
UV lamp is fastest and most controlled. Sunlight works but timing varies. Cover work between layers to prevent premature curing.
📏 Layer Thickness
Thin layers (1-2mm) cure most reliably. For deep water, do 4-5 thin layers rather than one thick pour. Patience = better results.
🎨 Colour Mixing
Alcohol inks work best — they're transparent and won't cloud the resin. Start with one drop per 5ml, test a small amount first.
🔨 Surface Finish
If surface feels tacky after curing, hit it with UV again or seal with gloss varnish. Polish with fine sandpaper for glass-smooth finish.
⚠️ Safety & Storage
Low toxicity but still handle with care. Work in ventilated areas. Avoid skin contact — wear gloves if sensitive. Much less smell than traditional epoxy resins.
Store in opaque bottle away from light sources. Shelf life is excellent when sealed and protected from UV. Keep away from children.
