PTFE-based needle seal. Restores smooth needle action and stops rear paint leaks.
Why This Part
✦ Genuine Gaahleri part — correct dimensions and material hardness for GHAD-68 & Swallowtail
✦ Fixes paint leaks at the rear — restores the seal around the needle where paint creeps into the body
✦ Restores smooth needle action — eliminates gritty, sticky, or inconsistent trigger feel
✦ Solvent-resistant material — Gaahleri uses PTFE in critical seals for long-term durability with cleaners and thinners
✦ Low-cost maintenance — a fraction of the airbrush price to keep your tool in peak condition
Product Description
The needle guide packing is a small but critical internal component in the Gaahleri GHAD-68 (trigger, Advanced Series) and GHAC-Swallowtail airbrushes. It sits inside the body behind the head assembly, performing two essential jobs: centring the needle as it moves back and forth, and sealing the paint channel around the needle shaft to prevent leaks.
Over time, the packing wears from friction, solvent exposure, and the natural movement of the needle. When it does, you'll notice paint seeping backwards into the body, a gritty or uneven feel when working the trigger, or inconsistent spray behaviour even with a clean, straight needle and good nozzle.
Replacing the packing restores smooth, precise needle travel and a leak-free seal — a straightforward service item that extends the working life of your airbrush significantly.

What's in the Box
1 × Gaahleri Needle Guide Packing for GHAD-68 / GHAC-Swallowtail.
Compatibility
✔ Fits: Gaahleri GHAD-68 (trigger, Advanced Series) and GHAC-Swallowtail
✘ Does NOT fit: GHAD-39, GHAC-98D, Gaahleri Mobius, or other Gaahleri models — these require different packing parts
Signs Your Packing Needs Replacing
Paint leaking backwards — you find paint seeping into the rear of the airbrush body, past the needle
Gritty or sticky trigger feel — the needle doesn't glide smoothly, even after cleaning and lubrication
Inconsistent spray — erratic behaviour that doesn't improve with a new needle or nozzle
Air bubbling in the cup — air leaking past the packing can push back into the paint cup
Pro Tips
Lubricate on reassembly. When fitting a new packing or reinstalling the needle, apply a tiny drop of airbrush lubricant 2–3cm from the needle tip before sliding it through. This distributes lube across the packing and keeps things smooth.
Diagnose before you replace. Paint leaks and rough needle action can also be caused by a dirty paint channel, damaged nozzle, or bent needle. Rule those out first — a new packing won't fix a different problem.
Consider a full seal service. If you're opening up the airbrush anyway, it may be worth checking all o-rings and seals at the same time — Gaahleri offers complete sealing kits for a thorough overhaul.
Worth Knowing
This packing is for the GHAD-68 and Swallowtail only. Other Gaahleri models (GHAD-39, GHAC-98D, Mobius) use different parts — check your model before ordering.
Replacing the packing requires partial disassembly of the airbrush body. If you're not comfortable working with small internal components, take care or seek advice from an experienced user.
A new packing won't fix issues caused by a bent needle, damaged nozzle, dirty paint channels, or other worn seals. Diagnose the actual cause before ordering parts.
