The difficult task of trying to cut out photo-etched parts with a modeling knife is now a thing of the past thanks to this handy set of scissors. Specially designed for use with photo-etched parts, the sharply pointed tip can cut into the narrowest joints, preventing accidental bending of parts during cutting.
Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?
Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.
What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?
Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.
How do I keep tools in good condition?
Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
