Product overview

Where a chisel removes a patch of material, Tamiya 74148 draws a controlled line. Its tungsten carbide needle is ground to a 20° point for scribing new detail or strengthening an existing groove, and it follows both straight paths and small-radius curves. It can also be used as a scriber, making the pointed geometry its defining feature.

  • The needle is 25 mm long overall, with a 2 mm shank and a 2 mm blade width.
  • Recommended for use in the 74139 Engraving Blade Holder.
  • The needle comes in a storage case, and its printed pack marks it for expert users.

What nozzle size do I need for miniatures?

0.3mm is the versatile all-rounder for base coats and priming; 0.2mm suits fine detail work. Larger nozzles (0.5mm) are for terrain and big surfaces.

Do I need a compressor with a tank?

A tank smooths the airflow and reduces pulsing, giving more consistent results — worth it if you spray regularly, but tankless compressors work fine for occasional use.
