Product overview

Tamiya 87168 is an A4 diorama material sheet depicting red-brown rectangular bricks laid in running bond. Each horizontal course is offset by half a brick, reproducing a common European masonry arrangement rather than a block-paving surface. Raised printing on coloured craft paper gives the bricks and cream mortar lines physical definition. The sheet can be used vertically for walls or laid flat as a road surface in 1/35, 1/24 and 1/20 scale scenes.

  • Sheet dimensions are 297 × 210 mm.
  • Rectangular bricks form offset horizontal courses.
  • Raised printing creates the three-dimensional masonry texture.
  • Acrylic and enamel paints can be applied with a brush or spray.
  • Lacquer paint may be sprayed in thin layers but must not be brush-applied.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
