Tamiya 74142 provides a compact A5 work surface for craft-knife cutting and for trimming masking tape into narrow strips. Its three-ply construction places a hard internal layer between softer outer faces, reducing wear on knife blades during repeated use. The marked face supplies common measuring and layout references, while the unprinted reverse provides a plain surface when the guides are not required.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?

Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.
