Within Tamiya’s two round options, Extra Small puts the more compact cotton tip into the working area. That makes 87103 a natural choice when weathering needs to be lifted from a confined detail or a decal needs attention without covering much of the surrounding surface. The cotton is wound firmly, helping the tip retain its shape while providing the liquid uptake specified for this hobby-use swab.
Fifty round Extra Small swabs are supplied.
Tamiya characterises the tips as durable and resistant to fraying.
Round profiles account for two of the five available craft-swab types.

Notes · Q & A
Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?+
Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.
What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?+
Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.
How do I keep tools in good condition?+
Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
