Tamiya 69902 adds a 2.5 mm cutting diameter to Modeller's Punch 74122, sitting between the 2 mm and 3 mm bits included with the tool. The single replacement bit is made from chrome molybdenum and installs through the punch's interchangeable-bit mechanism. It arrives coated with protective oil to inhibit corrosion; remove this coating before fitting and using the bit.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?

Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.
