Product overview

These round-to-square movement tray adapters let existing round-based miniatures form a square-edged unit for rank-and-file games without rebasing. Each black PLA tray has round recesses for the models' current bases and a square outer footprint that ranks up with adjacent units. Nothing is glued to the model and nothing is removed from its original base. One tray is supplied per option, defined by the input round base size, output square footprint and formation grid. Options cover compact groups through to whole-unit trays holding up to 25 models, while also keeping the unit together when carried to the table.

  • Available conversions: 20→20, 20→25, 25→25, 25→30, 28→30, 32→32, 32→40, 40→40, 50→50, 60→100, 80→100 and 100→100 mm.
  • Formations run from 2×1 to 5×5, with six-across formations (6×1 to 6×4) on the 25→25 conversion only.
  • Each option states the round base size it is cut for; the specification table gives the measured seat diameter wherever that option's drawing supplies one.
  • The outside footprint equals the formation width and depth multiplied by the output square size, plus 4 mm in each direction. For example, a 3×2 tray using 30 mm squares measures 94×64 mm.
  • Printed to order in black PLA, with an overall thickness of 4.5–6 mm depending on size. Fine layer lines and a Z-seam are normal features of FDM printing, not defects, and disappear under primer.
  • Part of the OBS (Open Basing System) range of bases, converters and movement trays.

What does a formation such as 7 × 5 mean

It means seven positions wide and five positions deep, for a total of 35 positions. Always confirm the listed base fit as the same formation can be available for different base formats.

How do I choose the right movement tray

Match the tray to the shape and size of the bases you are using, then choose the formation you need. Check the selected product's drawing and specifications for base fit and overall tray footprint; do not choose by model count alon

How should I use the technical drawing?

Choose your option first, then use the technical drawing and Technical Specifications to check the physical dimensions of the product. When matching an existing part or accessory, use the drawing rather than relying on the product name alone.

Can I rely on the nominal size alone?

No. Products with similar nominal sizes can have different physical dimensions or fit differently across brands and systems. Check the technical drawing, specifications and any product-specific compatibility note before ordering.

Would it be possible to purchase 25mm round to square trays in sizes not listed? I ask as I would like a tray set for 30 models on 25mm round bases to form a 6x5 movement tray. Ideally I would like 3 of these an a try for 40 models. Thanks

Thanks for your question! We have already designed and implemented the trays you’re looking for, and they are available on our eBay shop.

As of March 24, 2025, Shopify (which powers this store) still has a 100-variant limit per product, which means we had to limit the available tray variations here to 100, even though our full range includes 166 different types. However, our eBay shop has all of them available.

The good news is that Shopify is increasing the variant limit from 100 to 2000, with the change expected in Q1 – early Q2 2025. As soon as that update goes live, we will be adding all tray variations to this store.
