Synthetic speciality range: combers and fans for texture and special effects.
The Rosemary & Co Eclipse is a synthetic speciality brush range covering combers and fan brushes — tools for specific textural effects that standard round and flat brushes cannot achieve. Combers create parallel line effects useful for hair, fur, grasses, and textured surfaces, while fans are used for blending, foliage, and feathering.
These are not everyday brushes but essential specialist tools that painters reach for when specific effects are needed. Having them available in Rosemary & Co's quality at accessible prices means painters can stock these specialists without significant investment. For miniature painters, fan brushes are useful for stippling and smooth blending effects.

Brush sizes are not standardised across brands — a Size 1 from one maker may differ from another. These brushes are handcrafted, so individual dimensions may vary by 1–2 mm.
How we measure a brushA visual guide to the measurements shown in the size chart above.
These are the same measurements shown in the size chart above. Brush sizes are not standardised across brands, so use these dimensions when comparing brushes within a series or between manufacturers.
Tuft Length
The visible length of the brush hairs, measured from the ferrule to the tip.
Belly Diameter
The widest point of the brush head. On round brushes, this is the widest part of the belly.
Total Length
The full measurement from the tip of the brush to the end of the handle.
How to care for your brush
Clean after each use, paying attention to paint build-up in the tines of combers and between fan bristles. Brush soap helps. Reshape the spread pattern after washing. Synthetic fibres are durable but these shapes can deform if stored carelessly.
