Product overview
Modern models often come on oval bases — great for dynamic poses, but awkward when you want to rank a unit up, move it as one block, or display it in tidy formation. These adapters drop your oval-based models straight into a snug rectangular tray, so a whole unit moves, measures and stores as one clean block. Your models stay exactly where they are — nothing to unglue, nothing to repaint.
With the revival of traditional, rank-and-file wargaming — the kind built around square and rectangular bases and tightly-ranked regiments — these adapters earn a second job: they let your oval-based models fall in and fight in ranks.
If your collection sits on modern ovals but the game on the table calls for tidy square-and-rectangle blocks, these trays are the bridge between the two systems. Rank your models into neat regiments, wheel and move them as one, and get that classic ranked-up look — no rebasing required.
See the note below on sizing — the outer footprint is a bespoke size, so check the technical drawing to confirm frontage for your game.
These adapters are built around our oval base range, so the outer rectangular footprint is a bespoke size — not an off-the-shelf “standard” rectangle base size. A standard rectangle simply doesn’t wrap an oval cleanly, so we add a small margin (approx. 2 mm) around the oval so your models sit securely with a snug, wobble-free fit.
Exact outer dimensions therefore vary by variant. Every variant includes a technical drawing with the precise measurements — please check the drawing for the size you need before you order.
How It Works
01 Choose your oval base size (e.g. 60×35mm, 90×52mm).
02 Choose your formation — single, ranks, or lance.
03 Drop your models in — done. Lift any base out any time for painting or storage.
Oval Base Sizes Supported
120×92mm ● 150×95mm ● 170×105mm
These are the oval base sizes each slot accepts. The resulting rectangle footprint is shown on the technical drawing for each variant.
Formation Options
| Single & Ranks | 1×1 up to 6×3 (depending on base size) |
| Lance | Lance 3 & Lance 6 — wedge formation for cavalry-style charges |
Not every formation exists in every size — larger ovals come in fewer layouts. Use the variant selector to see what’s available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to rebase my models?
No. Your models stay on their existing oval bases. You simply drop each base into the adapter tray — no gluing, no cutting, no repainting.
Are the rectangle sizes standard?
No — and this is important. The rectangular footprint is built around the oval base plus roughly a 2mm margin, so it is a bespoke size rather than an off-the-shelf standard rectangle base. Always check the technical drawing on the variant you want for exact outer dimensions.
Can I use these for traditional rank-and-file games?
Yes — they’re a popular way to field oval-based models in square-and-rectangle, rank-and-file wargaming. Because the footprint is bespoke, check the technical drawing against your game’s expected frontage before buying.
Which oval base size do I choose?
Choose the size that matches the oval bases your models are already on — for example a 60×35mm oval slot for models on 60×35mm ovals. Then pick the formation (single, ranks, or lance) for how many models you want per tray.
What are they made from?
Durable FDM 3D-printed plastic (PETG/PLA), printed to order in our Derby workshop. The surface is paint-ready if you’d like to finish the tray to match your basing.

Notes · Q & A
What does a formation such as 7 × 5 mean
It means seven positions wide and five positions deep, for a total of 35 positions. Always confirm the listed base fit as the same formation can be available for different base formats.
How do I choose the right movement tray
Match the tray to the shape and size of the bases you are using, then choose the formation you need. Check the selected product's drawing and specifications for base fit and overall tray footprint; do not choose by model count alon
How should I use the technical drawing?
Choose your option first, then use the technical drawing and Technical Specifications to check the physical dimensions of the product. When matching an existing part or accessory, use the drawing rather than relying on the product name alone.
Can I rely on the nominal size alone?
No. Products with similar nominal sizes can have different physical dimensions or fit differently across brands and systems. Check the technical drawing, specifications and any product-specific compatibility note before ordering.
