Product overview

The 240 ml GSW Water Soluble Patina format is intended for regular users, studios and larger terrain or prop projects where repeated weathering work would quickly use a smaller bottle. It retains the range’s partially water-soluble working behaviour, allowing broad ageing or grime layers to be adjusted after application. Pigment gathers irregularly in crevices and surface texture, creating oxidation, moisture, soot and wear effects across larger areas.

  • Apply to clean plastic, resin or metal surfaces.
  • Use a damp sponge, brush or cotton bud to wipe away excess and shape transitions.
  • The effect remains partially soluble, allowing later adjustment with water.
  • Seal the finished surface with matt varnish to preserve the result.
  • Variants: Verdigris 5902, Turquoise Oxide 5903, Yellow Oxide 5904, Filthy Dirt 5905, Moss 5906 and Black Soot 5907.
  • Also available in a 60 ml format under SKU 5702.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
