Product overview

GSW Flexible Metallic Paint is a 240 ml water-based acrylic coating for projects that bend during wear or handling. It is intended for EVA foam, latex, fabric, leather, 3D prints and other cosplay materials. Unlike standard rigid coatings, it tolerates moderate surface movement while retaining its metallic finish. The paint is flexible rather than elastic and may crack if the underlying material is overstretched.

  • Available as Silver 5677, Gold 5678, Copper 5679, Steel 5680 and Bronze 6366.
  • Apply by brush or airbrush; airbrushing produces the thinnest and most even coating.
  • Dilute with water or GSW acrylic thinner when required.
  • A dark base, preferably black, is recommended beneath the metallic colour.
  • Allow at least 24 hours for full curing.
  • Contains no latex or vinyl; low-adhesion surfaces require suitable preparation and primer.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
