Product overview

The 4 lb Bronze kit serves larger sculpting jobs that consume material over successive sections, including filled moulds, work over armatures and repeat builds. Its total 4 lb consists of two 2 lb tubs: one Part A and one Part B. That division supports measured batches and a consistent approach throughout workshop-scale work. Bronze identifies the colour only; painting remains a separate finishing step after the compound has cured.

  • A 1–3-hour working range allows the mixed putty to be formed and refined.
  • Combine equal quantities of A and B at 50/50 and knead continuously for two minutes to complete activation.
  • The compound sets by itself without baking, reaching full cure after 24 hours.
  • Postpone sanding and drilling until the full curing period has elapsed.
  • According to Aves, the result is hard and waterproof with 0% shrinkage.
  • For a bespoke colour, mix the selected Part A colours together before matching their total with an equal portion of Part B; the colour remains integral to the cured form.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
