Product overview
AK457 True Metal Steel can receive an acrylic varnish after the colour has dried. Its 20 ml wax formulation is a metallic modelling paint that develops its metal finish through polishing. Prime the model beforehand and leave the wax coating for 48 hours so it can dry fully.
- Brush application is supported, as are fingertip and cotton-swab methods.
- For airbrushing, the colour must first be thinned with white spirit.
- High-quality pigments are used in the formulation.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
