Mud Effects Set is a three-jar blister of AK's 35 ml enamel weathering products built around one subject: mud on a scale model. AK's own summary is three different earth colours for replicating dry, fresh and wet mud effects, and AK states two of the jar colours in its text — Fresh Mud is a dark brown enamel effect, Dark Mud a dark earth colour that dilutes with white spirit. All three jars can be mixed with plaster to give the mud real volume. All three are enamels, and all three are stocked by us separately as singles.

Set contains (3 × 35 ml): AK016 Fresh Mud, AK017 Earth Effects and AK023 Dark Mud

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
