Product overview

With its dark earth tone, AK017 Earth Effects provides 35 ml of enamel weathering liquid for natural soil and mud marks on vehicles. It is intended for wheels, tracks and hulls, where the colour can be used alone or combined with other earth shades for greater variation. Plaster may also be added when a raised, heavier layer is required.

  • Place the effect on running gear and lower bodywork exposed to soil.
  • Blend and redistribute the enamel with White Spirit after application.
  • Add plaster to turn the liquid colour into a thicker mud deposit.
  • Layer or mix it with other earth tones to vary the weathered surface.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
