AK Artist Dense Acrylics are heavy-body paints for modellers and figure painters who want a thicker consistency than a dropper-bottle acrylic. The base range comprises 18 colours, each supplied as 20 ml in a metal tube with a black cap. Extra-fine micropigments and a 100% acrylic emulsion give the paint its dense body, supporting smooth transitions, delicate glazes and a matte finish.
The base collection runs from AKAD001 Pure White to AKAD018 Burnt Umber.
Individual colour data identifies the pigment code, pigment name and opacity.
Opacity varies by colour between opaque, semi-opaque and clear.
All 18 colours carry a published lightfastness rating of 3.
The formula accepts acrylic painting additives and can be mixed with AK 3rd Generation or other acrylic colours.

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
