AK Artist Dense Acrylics are heavy-body paints for modellers and figure painters who want a thicker consistency than a dropper-bottle acrylic. The base range comprises 18 colours, each supplied as 20 ml in a metal tube with a black cap. Extra-fine micropigments and a 100% acrylic emulsion give the paint its dense body, supporting smooth transitions, delicate glazes and a matte finish.

  • The base collection runs from AKAD001 Pure White to AKAD018 Burnt Umber.
  • Individual colour data identifies the pigment code, pigment name and opacity.
  • Opacity varies by colour between opaque, semi-opaque and clear.
  • All 18 colours carry a published lightfastness rating of 3.
  • The formula accepts acrylic painting additives and can be mixed with AK 3rd Generation or other acrylic colours.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
