Product overview

AK4113 Dark Rust Deposits is a 35 ml enamel formulated to leave a lightly textured, crusted rust effect once dry. Use it on vehicle surfaces, fittings and accessories where built-up corrosion is required. The deposit can be developed gradually, with several applications controlling where the texture gathers and how strongly it shows.

  • Shake thoroughly, apply directly and allow 10–15 minutes before beginning the blending stage.
  • Use a dabbing motion with a moist brush to push the enamel into position.
  • Blend with a brush moistened with AK011 White Spirit until the deposit suits the model.
  • Let each layer dry fully before judging the final crusted appearance.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
