Product overview

AK023 Dark Mud is a 35 ml matt enamel effect for building dark earth and mud deposits on military models. Its colour may be used alone or combined with other earth tones, allowing the finished deposit to be adjusted across a weathered surface. The enamel remains workable for softening and fading with a clean brush moistened with enamel thinner.

  • Apply it directly to vehicle hulls, wheels or tracks.
  • Use AK White Spirit to dilute the product and blend transitions.
  • Combine it with plaster when raised mud or earth accumulations are needed.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
