Product overview

Acid Yellow is a bright yellow enamel liquid pigment — a pigment held in an enamel binder rather than a loose powder — for sulfurous, sulfur-stained soils and the yellow accumulations that gather around them. It paints on neat, straight off the brush, dries to a flat, chalky matt, and is self-fixing, so you can skip the fixer entirely.

  • White Spirit is the one thinner you need: dilute with it, blend colours wet-in-wet with it, and wet a dried patch back to lift or reshape it.
  • Work it while it is fresh, feeding in more colour to vary the tone before it sets.
  • Once it is down you can dust dry pigments over the top to build the surface further.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
