Product overview

Raider Earth is a very dark blue enamel liquid pigment — despite the name, this is a cold blue rather than a brown, and it is made for soil and dust building up in cold environments. Load it onto a brush and work it in neat; as an enamel pigment it locks down on its own, with no fixer to spray over it.

  • A little White Spirit loosens it for thinner, graded passes, or to blend one area into the next.
  • Work it while wet, dropping in more colour to pull contrast and variation through it.
  • The heavy pigment load dries flat matt, and dry pigments can go over the top to finish.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
