Aves Apoxie Sculpt 454g (1lb) Yellow — Two-Part Epoxy Modelling Compound
About This Product
Aves Apoxie Sculpt is a two-part epoxy compound made by Aves Studio in the USA. Mix equal parts of Part A and Part B together, and you get a smooth, clay-like putty that you can sculpt, shape, texture, and tool for 1–3 hours before it begins to set. After 24 hours it cures into a rock-hard, permanent material with a semi-gloss finish.
It works like modelling clay but bonds like an epoxy — meaning it sticks permanently to most surfaces without needing primer or separate adhesive. Once cured, it can be sanded, drilled, carved, tapped, filed, and painted just like any rigid material.
This is the 454 g (1 lb) tub set in Yellow. Each set contains one 227 g (8 oz) tub of Part A and one 227 g (8 oz) tub of Part B. Yellow is a bright, warm tone — an excellent base for desert and sand terrain, arid landscapes, and any project where a warm sandy undercoat saves painting time. It's also one of the most useful mixing colours in the range. Combine Yellow with Brown for earth tones, with Green for olive and vegetation shades, or with Red and Orange for fire effects. All 12 Apoxie Sculpt colours are intermixable.
Why Choose Yellow?
◆ Desert and sand terrain — sculpt arid landscapes, dunes, sandy ground, and sun-baked earth where the yellow base reads as sand without any painting.
◆ The ultimate mixing colour — Yellow is arguably the most versatile Part A in the range. Mix with Brown for earth, with Green for olive, with Red for orange, with White for cream. Keep a tub as a permanent part of your colour toolkit.
◆ Golden and warm-toned sculpts — decorative ornaments, sunflower motifs, gilded frames, and warm-toned art pieces look rich and inviting in yellow without any finishing.
◆ Alien and sci-fi landscapes — sulfurous wastelands, toxic swamps, and hazard-zone terrain all benefit from a yellow base that sets the mood instantly.
◆ High contrast for detail visibility — the bright yellow tone makes it exceptionally easy to see sculpted details, tool marks, and surface imperfections while you work.

How to Use — Quick Guide
Mix — take equal amounts of Part A and Part B. Knead together thoroughly until the colour is completely uniform with no streaks.
Sculpt — shape, texture, and detail your piece. You have 1–3 hours of working time. The 1-hour mark is often the sweet spot for fine detail.
Smooth — use water on your fingers or tools to smooth surfaces before cure. Cold water helps reduce sticking.
Cure — leave for 24 hours at room temperature. No oven, no UV, no heat needed.
Finish — once cured, sand, drill, carve, or paint as needed. Accepts all hobby paints and primers.
Tips from the Hobby Community
▸ Use cold water to reduce sticking and help hold fine detail while sculpting.
▸ Wear nitrile gloves — epoxy compounds are best handled with gloves. Aves recommends this in their own instructions.
▸ Wait for the 1-hour mark if you want to add fine details — the material firms up slightly and holds sharper impressions.
▸ Mix only what you need — once combined, Parts A and B will cure whether you use them or not. Portion sensibly.
▸ Yellow is the ultimate mixing colour — on its own it's perfect for desert and sand terrain, but it really shines as a base for custom shades. Yellow + Brown = earth, Yellow + Green = olive, Yellow + Red = fire. Keep a tub as a permanent part of your colour mixing toolkit.
▸ Store sealed and cool — old stock can develop a surface film. Keep lids tight for maximum shelf life.
How Does It Compare?
vs. Green Stuff (Kneadatite)
Apoxie Sculpt gives a much longer working time (1–3 hours vs. ~30 min), smooths more easily with water, and cures rock-hard. Green Stuff stays slightly flexible — better for armour straps, cloaks, organic shapes. Rigid and sandable? Apoxie. Elastic and tough? Green Stuff.
vs. Milliput
Both cure hard and can be sanded. Milliput has a shorter working time and a grittier texture. Apoxie Sculpt feels smoother in hand and is easier to blend on surfaces. Milliput tends to be cheaper per gram. Ultra-smooth sculpting? Apoxie. Quick affordable filler? Milliput.
vs. Polymer Clay (Sculpey, FIMO)
Polymer clay needs an oven and doesn't bond to other materials. Apoxie Sculpt cures at room temperature, bonds permanently, and is far more durable. For anything that needs to stick, Apoxie is the better choice.
Good to Know
⚠ It cures rigid. If you need a flexible end result (cloaks, straps, thin parts that flex), Green Stuff or a flexible putty is a better choice.
⚠ The working time is a strength — and a commitment. Once mixed, Parts A and B will set in 24 hours whether you've finished or not.
⚠ Wear gloves. Non-toxic when cured and non-flammable, but skin contact during mixing should be avoided.
⚠ Colour pigment is in Part A only. Part B is always the same across all colours. Mix different Part A colours together before adding Part B to create custom shades.
