Vallejo Wild Tuft Swamp SC405 is a pack of 35 static grass tufts at 4mm height, sized in Vallejo's Medium tier. The muted olive-brown Swamp colour is designed for wetlands, marsh edges and other damp-looking settings where a uniform meadow green would look too clean. Each tuft lifts individually from the backing sheet and sticks on contact, so they can be pressed into position around water features, muddy banks or scattered stones without additional adhesive.

  • The Swamp tone works alongside darker washes and mud textures on bases.
  • PVA glue can be added when attaching tufts to coarse texture or where a permanent bond is required.
  • Suitable for scale models, wargame bases, figures and diorama scenes.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
