Product overview

Tamiya 74085 groups the driver and wrench sizes needed for assembling and maintaining R/C models. It covers Phillips fasteners, slotted engine-adjustment screws, wheel nuts, grub screws and cap screws without adding unrelated general-purpose tools. A removable grip accepts the individual shafts, while the supplied stand and transparent cover keep the working sizes arranged together between jobs.

  • Phillips drivers comprise No.1/M for 2–2.6 mm screws and No.2/L for 3–5 mm screws.
  • One flathead screwdriver is provided for engine-adjustment screws.
  • Box wrench sizes are 5.5 mm and 7 mm.
  • Hex wrench sizes are 1.5 mm, 2 mm and 2.5 mm.
  • A removable grip, driver stand and transparent protective cover are included.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?

Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.

What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?

Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.

How do I keep tools in good condition?

Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
