#8000 is the final and least aggressive grit in Tamiya's Fine Lapping Film line. Rather than reshaping a surface, 87200 is for bringing an already well-prepared area towards a near-mirror state before compound polishing. It targets the faint haze that can remain after the preceding films, making it relevant to clear coats and transparent parts where minute surface marks remain visible. The film format also allows the abrasive to be placed directly against flat or gently contoured work.
- The working face consists of finely dispersed abrasive on polyester film.
- Wet use is supported when polishing plastic or metal surfaces.
- The full-size 93 x 228 mm format is supplied in a set of three and may be trimmed.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?
Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.
What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?
Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.
How do I keep tools in good condition?
Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
