The Evergreen range is composed of 100% synthetic fibres that give these brushes a fabulous spring and snap. Where it sits in Rosemary & Co's line-up is the thing worth knowing: softer than the Ivory and Shiraz, firmer than the Eclipse. That middle ground is the whole appeal — enough backbone to make a precise, controlled mark, but a lighter touch than the firmest synthetics, so the brush lays paint down rather than pushing it around. Made for acrylics and oils, 100% vegan, and handmade in Cowling, Yorkshire. Rosemary & Co are refreshingly candid about where the range came from: the Evergreen is literally the Ivory brush dyed green — first made as a Christmas gift for some of their top artists, and now one of their most popular ranges in its own right.
We stock two flats from the range, and they behave differently. The short flat has the shorter hair, which gives it a sharper, more precise edge and a stronger snap — the more controlled of the two, for shorter deliberate strokes and clean definition. The long flat has the longer hair, so there's less snap and a looser stroke; it holds more paint and covers more ground before you reload, while still cutting a precise chiselled edge. Either way you get a more delicate mark than the equivalent Ivory flat.
What makes this brush special
The defining quality is balance. There's real spring and snap in the fibre, so the brush returns to shape and holds a clean edge, but it's softer than an Ivory, which means the mark it leaves is more delicate and less forceful. That makes it well suited to precise, considered mark-making in acrylics and oils. Being synthetic, it cleans easily and stands up to a good deal of use.

- Tuft Length
- The visible length of the brush hairs, measured from the ferrule to the tip.
- Belly Diameter
- The widest point of the brush head. On round brushes, this is the widest part of the belly.
- Total Length
- The full measurement from the tip of the brush to the end of the handle.
How to care for your brush
Rinse thoroughly after use and make sure you clean the whole brush, right down into the ferrule — paint left there will cause the hairs to splay outwards. Reshape the head while it's damp and dry it flat or tip-down. With acrylics, clean straight away rather than at the end of a session, as acrylic sets permanently in the filaments.
