The Raphael 8402 is an extra fine point Kolinsky sable brush designed for the most demanding detail work. Where the 8404 balances capacity with precision, the 8402 is unapologetically focused on pinpoint accuracy — a slender profile with minimal belly and a needle-fine tip.
This is the brush for painting eyes on 28mm miniatures, adding the thinnest freehand lines, or executing botanical illustration details that require absolute precision. It holds less paint than the 8404 or 8400, so it demands more frequent reloading, but what it delivers in control and point fineness is exceptional.

How to care for your brush
Handle with extra care — the fine tip is delicate. Rinse gently after use, clean with brush soap, and carefully reshape the point. Store in a protective tube or case. Never press hard or splay the tip. Avoid metallic paints entirely. With gentle handling, the 8402 maintains its precision for years.
